Research Institute to advance nutraceutical product development across four core research areas

SIRIO Pharma (SIRIO) – the global nutraceutical contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) – announces the launch of the Sirio Institute for Anti-Ageing (SIA) at the 2025 Boao Health Food Science Conference and Expo. The Institute aims to advance anti-ageing science and accelerate the development and commercialization of innovative nutraceutical products to promote healthy longevity. By leveraging cutting-edge research and development capabilities, the SIA will provide customers with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to bring truly groundbreaking anti-ageing solutions to the market and gain a competitive edge in the rapidly growing anti-ageing industry.

With the growing global demand for anti-ageing solutions, the SIA will explore the biological mechanisms of ageing and how they can be modulated . Research at the Institute will focus on four core areas: cellular health, probiotics and gut health, muscle health, and reproductive system health. The Institute will be guided by a global Scientific Advisory Board composed of outstanding experts in the field.

Dr. Yu-Xuan Lyu, Research Assistant Professor at the Institute of Advanced Biotechnology and the School of Medicine at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), will head the newly established institute and assemble the Scientific Advisory Board. The core research at the Institute will target the enhancement of cellular health, the role of probiotics in reducing the aging process, and the development of novel nutraceutical formulations addressing muscle loss and ovary functional decline during ageing.

Dr. Lyu commented on the launch of the Institute: “With global populations rapidly greying, the demand for scientifically validated nutraceuticals that can delay or minimise the unwanted effects of ageing has reached unprecedented levels. Yet many products on the market today frequently promote safety and efficacy claims lacking robust scientific and clinical evidence. The Sirio Institute for Anti-Ageing (SIA) will pioneer rigorous, evidence-based research and product development for our nutraceutical partners worldwide. Our approach extends beyond merely delaying ageing manifestations, aiming to identify and the modulate fundamental mechanisms of ageing. We will conduct cutting-edge research into innovative bioactive ingredients, synergistic formulations, delivery and stability optimization protocols, and demonstrable consumer health benefits.”

Dr. Youyou Zhao, Assistant Vice President of SIRIO, Global Head of Research and Development, and Chief Scientist, emphasized the new Institute’s goals, adding “we are committed to creating verifiable, traceable, and scientifically applicable evidence-based solutions for anti-ageing. The establishment of the SIA represents a significant leap in SIRIO’s R&D capabilities and our innovative transformation. By integrating cutting-edge global anti-ageing research with valuable consumer insights and industrial applications, we aim to enhance product value and explore new market opportunities. So that our brand partners can move ahead of the big trends of tomorrow, and most importantly deliver nutraceuticals that have best in class organoleptic properties combined with proven real-world efficacy.”
