Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, US, has selected Zynx Health Device Network’s Prime-A-Pump, a Web-based knowledge resource and collaboration tool intended to maintain smart pump drug libraries.
Prime-A-Pump provides guidance to healthcare professionals in configuring the safety limits within their pump drug library software, preventing serious medication and administration errors. The tool has been designed to save hospital time in researching and updating their drug libraries, as well as in communicating and building consensus with colleagues.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital Pharmacy informatics and support services director Thomas Cooley said the tool can help eliminate IV infusion errors, improving patient safety. With the use of Prime-A-Pump, drug libraries can be customized by a single hospital and/or shared across multiple institutions. Zynx Health focuses on developing clinical decision support for medical devices with the goal of improving patient safety.
