Ashfield Engage, part of UDG Healthcare, has announced the acquisition of Medaxis, a patient engagement services partner for the life sciences industry, providing services to healthcare professionals and patients.
Ashfield Engage, which has a Patient Solutions offering specializing in patient engagement, education and consulting programs across the globe, is set to bolster its capabilities in Canada with the addition of 40 Medaxis employees.
Having already worked together on a number of projects, the strategic collaboration with Medaxis will allow Ashfield Engage to provide tailored solutions across the country.
Jason Erickson, Managing Director, Ashfield Engage Canada, said: “Medaxis knows the Canadian healthcare industry extremely well, and we’re delighted to welcome its team to Ashfield Engage. By unifying Medaxis’s unique insight with our own resources, we can strengthen the support we offer to clients in Canada, expand our service offering and ultimately create a greater impact for our clients and their patients.”
“The potential of this investment is especially exciting as there is already a real synergy between our teams. We share the same values and are working towards the same goals. The team provides a great mix of patient services paired with unique tailored client solutions that sets them apart from the competition and together we have already delivered amazing results for our customers.”
Headquartered in Quebec, Medaxis was founded in 2010 by nurse Annie Joncas to address a shortage of nurses in Quebec. The organization has evolved from nurse recruitment to become a national provider of customized patient support programs and facilitates patient access to specialty medications.
Joncas will continue her leadership role as the newly appointed Director, Patient Solutions for Ashfield Engage Canada as well as becoming part of the Patient Solutions Global Centre of Excellence.
She added: “As a Canadian company founded and headquartered in Quebec, our team supports biopharmaceutical companies and truly understands the challenges Canadian healthcare professionals and patients face. Our experience together with Ashfield Engage’s reputation will enable us to scale up our patient support programs to reach even more people and foster better patient outcomes.”
