Dentists and dental care professionals from 24 dental offices in Texas provided pro-bono dental care to more than 200 community members in need at the second annual Serve Day on August 11, 2012.
The dental offices teamed up with local organizations and community partners, such as youth centers, nonprofit organizations and churches, to serve individuals in need of basic dental care.
“Serve Day is a day for giving back to the community,” said Dr. Ben Poest of Pflugerville Modern Dentistry. “Having access to dental care is critical for a person’s overall health. When you see how the work you do brings a smile to a patient’s face, you are reminded of how important it is to help people in need.”
The teams provided treatment – ranging from cleanings and exams, to digital x-rays and fillings – to individuals who otherwise would not have access to basic dental care. The supplies for the treatments were donated by Henry Schein® Dental and Ivoclar Vivadent.
Nationwide, more than 200 dental offices participated in Serve Day and treated more than 1,400 patients.
